Tips for Making a Hamptons Style Kitchen

There is a good reason why the Hamptons style has emerged as one of the most popular interior design styles in Australia. It’s not hard to understand why this beachy design has won the hearts of so many people; it has a colour palette of gentle neutrals, rich blues and greens, a concentration on textured components, light and bright areas, and ornamental embellishments.

Even though we typically imagine a lounge room or master bedroom decorated in the Hamptons style, there is no reason why the aesthetic can’t extend over into the kitchen. It is common knowledge that the kitchen is the home’s focal point. We’ve rounded together a few of our favourite Hamptons style kitchen tips for creating the look in your own house!

Because the cabinets tend to become the focal point of the kitchen, it is essential to select them in accordance with the desired style. The interiors of homes in the Hamptons tend to go towards the opulent side of things; therefore, you should choose white and anything that has detail. Imagine shaker-style doors with elaborate metal and brass hardware.

Island Bench

A kitchen island serves as the room’s focal point and may be seen in virtually every real estate listing for a house in the Hamptons. Again, you’ll notice that the island features beautiful and detailed woodwork, and the majority of people will choose to top it with marble since, after all, luxury is the name of the game. However, marble is prone to scratches, so engineered stone is a fantastic alternative to consider.

Splashback and Sink

Although subway tiles are the most common option for splashbacks in kitchens designed in the Hamptons style, you also have the option of going with something a bit more unique, such as herringbone. Opt for light colours, keeping with white is typical, but you may also choose to add in a little of pale blue, grey, or green here if you want to switch things up!

Installing bench seating will allow you to create a breakfast bar. Consider using natural materials or colours. For example, you may use upholstered furniture made of neutral linen (though you should watch out for spillage!), rattan, or bare or painted lumber.

Whenever it comes to the Hamptons, lighting is a crucial point that has to be covered, since it often serves as a highlight in the area. In most Hamptons kitchens, the kitchen island will be highlighted (quite literally!) with pendant lighting. When it comes to selecting your light fixture, bigger is better; based on your own sense of style, you can opt for a metal and glass lantern-type fixture or a more contemporary dome pendant.

Adorn Your Home

When it comes to any kind of stylistic or interior design endeavour, the finishing touches are actually what makes the difference. Include a potted orchid, pottery in pastel blue or green, a fruit bowl that is abundantly stocked with fruit, a champagne bucket made of silver, linen hand towels, and beautiful hand washes.
